Selecting space for a group

When you add a group from a template — e.g. drawers — you first point at the empty space in the object where the group goes. The group then fits itself to that space.

  1. In the panel list click + next to Groups (Add group from template).
  2. The banner says Click the empty space where the group should go. Move the mouse over the object: the space under the cursor is highlighted, and the inspector shows its size (width × height × depth mm). If there is room for a front, it also says + front … mm.
  3. Click the space. It stays locked.
  4. Below are the templates in three parts: System, My groups and Public catalog. Search them with Filter templates….
  5. A template that doesn’t fit the space says why, e.g. Needs height 400 mm, there is 360 mm.
  6. Choose a template and click Use template. The group appears as a preview in the chosen space.
  7. Check it in the group form and click Add to model.

Click Skip if you don’t want to pick a space. The group is then placed with the template’s sizes, and you set its position and size yourself in the group form.
