Moving around in 3D

Every navigation shortcut is also written at the bottom of the screen, in the hint bar.

Action How
Orbit around the object drag with the left mouse button
Zoom mouse wheel
Pan the view Shift + drag
Move the rotation point Ctrl (Windows) / ⌘ (Mac) + drag

Moving the rotation point helps with tall or wide objects: the camera then orbits around the part you are looking at instead of the middle of the object.

Key Action
F Reset the camera
+ / − Zoom
0 Reset the zoom to 100 %
1 Perspective
2 Top, press again for bottom
3 Front, press again for back
4 Right, press again for left

The number keys don’t change the view while the Measure tool is active.

Above the 3D view on the left are the standard views: Perspective, Top, Front, Left …

When you open a panel with a double-click, the views switch to the panel itself:

  • A and B — the panel’s two faces, viewed head-on.
  • a, b, c, d — the panel’s four edges. Edge bands use the same letters — see Edge bands.

On the right rail, below the tools:

  • Transparent panels — see inside the object.
  • Show only fronts — only doors and drawer fronts.
  • Dimensions — dimension lines of the object.
  • Show outline and Show outer outline (envelope).
  • Show background grid.

Viewer settings (S) let you reset the Viewport Offset and the Rotation Pivot and choose the Background of the view.
