Joints and hardware
The Add join holes tool (J) drills holes for hardware into two panels at once: the panel you
select and the neighbouring panels it touches. Every joint uses a hardware item from the library,
so the drilling always matches what the hardware actually needs.
Join types
Section titled “Join types”On the tool rail (left) you choose the Join type:
| Type | For |
|---|---|
| Dowel | a wooden dowel between two panels |
| Confirmat | a screw through the face of one panel into the edge of another |
| Eccentric | a cam in one panel and a bolt in the other, can be taken apart |
| Hinge | the cup in the door and the plate on the side panel — only with a door selected |
| System 32 | shelf-pin holes on a 32 mm grid |
Dowel, confirmat, eccentric
Section titled “Dowel, confirmat, eccentric”- Select a panel (double-click) and press
J. The form opens on the Holes tab. - Choose the join type and the Hardware.
- Pick a face (A/B) or an edge (a/b/c/d) of the panel. The neighbouring panels on that side are found automatically and get matching holes.
- Set Count and Margin (mm). Under Advanced position are U offset and V offset — the offset from the face centre, 0 = centred.
- Click Add.
The panel touching with its face gets holes of Face depth (mm), the panel touching with its edge Edge depth (mm). For an eccentric you also choose the Cam face.
If it says No adjacent panels at this anchor, no panel touches the selected one on that side — change the count or the margin, or pick another face.
Hinges
Section titled “Hinges”Hinges go on doors.
- Mark the panel as a door: panel form → Properties → Door → Is door, then choose the Pivot edge — the edge the hinges are on.
- Turn on Add join holes (
J) → Hinge. - Choose the hardware and set Hinges (count), Edge distance (mm) and End margin (mm).
- Adjacent body shows the side panel the door is mounted to. If it says No adjacent panel found, check the Pivot edge.
- Advanced — faces and cup holds Hole faces, Door hole face and Door cup.
- Click Add.
System 32
Section titled “System 32”Holes for shelf pins. What you select decides the mode:
- Per shelf (Auto) — select one or more shelves. Holes are drilled into the side panels under each shelf, Hole count around each shelf. Odd number: the middle hole sits right under the shelf.
- Full height (Full) — select one side panel. The holes run its full height.
Set Pitch (mm) (usually 32), Front distance (mm), Back distance (mm) and Opposite side: Nearest, All parallel panels or None. The holes are mirrored at the same heights onto the chosen panel. The drilling sizes are under Advanced — drilling.
Hardware and overrides
Section titled “Hardware and overrides”The drilling sizes — diameter, depth, spacing — come from the selected Hardware. The fields are locked: For other values turn on “Override hardware” or choose different hardware.
When you turn on Override hardware, you can change the sizes, but the app warns you that the drilling no longer matches the library hardware. The joint is marked Deviates from the hardware in the list, and the deviation also shows in the specification.
The Joints tab
Section titled “The Joints tab”Panel form, Joints tab:
- Joints of this panel — joints this panel owns. You edit (Edit joint) and delete (Delete joint) them here; they also drill the panels they join.
- Joined to this panel — joints of other panels that also drill this one. They are edited on the owner panel: Open the owner panel.
In the Holes tab these holes are under Hole groups and can’t be changed one by one.
