Measuring

Measure (M) shows a gap or a size right in the 3D view. It does not change the model.

  1. Turn on Measure on the right rail or press M.
  2. On the tool rail choose the mode:
    • Gap — the gap between panels,
    • Size — the size of the panel itself.
  3. Choose the axis: X, Y or Z (or press X, Y, Z).
  4. Move the mouse over a panel. A dimension line with the value in millimetres follows the cursor.

The gap is measured from the panel face closer to the cursor, along the chosen axis, to the next panel — or to the object edge if there is none. This quickly shows you:

  • the clear opening between two side panels (axis X),
  • the gap between two shelves (axis Y),
  • how much room is left behind a drawer (axis Z).

The whole panel under the cursor is measured along the chosen axis — in real space, not in the panel’s own coordinates. A shelf running the width of the object shows its width on axis X and its thickness on axis Y.

Axis Direction
X object width (left – right)
Y object height (bottom – top)
Z object depth (back – front)

Esc or V turns the tool off.
