Move and fit
When you select a panel or a group, a narrow Snap & fit rail appears left of the 3D view. It holds the hand for moving with the mouse and buttons that push or stretch the panel exactly up to its neighbours.
For exact numbers use the Position and Dimensions fields in the panel form — see Editing a panel.
Hand — moving with the mouse
Section titled “Hand — moving with the mouse”- Select a panel (double-click).
- On the rail, turn on Hand — move & resize with mouse.
- Drag the panel. The banner says: Drag to move · Hold Alt for fine 1 mm snap · Hold X/Y/Z to constrain the axis.
| While dragging | What happens |
|---|---|
| nothing | the panel moves in 10 mm steps |
Alt (Mac: ⌥ Option) |
fine 1 mm steps |
Ctrl / ⌘ |
the panel snaps to the faces of nearby panels |
hold X, Y or Z |
movement along that axis only |
Esc |
cancels the drag, the panel stays where it was |
Resizing
Section titled “Resizing”The selected panel has orange cubes on its edges. Drag a cube and the panel grows or shrinks on that side — the opposite edge stays put. On a round panel this changes the diameter.
The blue dots in the corners round the panel’s corners. You type the exact radius in the panel form, under Corner radius.
The whole drag is one step — Ctrl / ⌘ + Z undoes it in one go.
Snap & fit
Section titled “Snap & fit”The rest of the rail works without dragging:
- Choose the Axis: X axis, Y axis, Z axis or Free movement (grabbed face plane).
- Click one of the actions. An “obstacle” is the first panel (or object edge) the panel meets on that axis.
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Snap to start | moves the panel until its min (−) face touches the first obstacle |
| Snap to center | puts the panel’s midpoint exactly between two obstacles |
| Snap to end | moves the panel until its max (+) face touches the first obstacle |
| Fit to start | extends the − face to the first obstacle, the + face stays |
| Fit between obstacles | stretches the panel across the whole space between two obstacles |
| Fit to end | extends the + face to the first obstacle, the − face stays |
Snap changes only the position, Fit changes the size as well.
Example: a shelf that doesn’t reach the side
Section titled “Example: a shelf that doesn’t reach the side”You added a shelf, but there is a 5 mm gap to one side panel:
- Select the shelf.
- Choose X axis.
- Click Fit between obstacles. The shelf now sits exactly between both sides.
