Editing a panel

You open the Edit Panel form with a double-click on a panel in the 3D view, or by clicking its row in the panel list. Every change is applied right away — there is no Apply button.

Tab Contents
Properties name, dimensions, position, grain direction, door, gluing
Material face material and edge bands — see Faces A/B and grain and Edge bands
Holes free holes and hole groups — see Holes
Joints dowels, confirmat, hinges, System-32 — see Joints and hardware
Cutouts cutouts, rabbets and grooves — see Cutouts

The number on a tab shows how many holes, joints or cutouts the panel has.

  • Name — what the panel is called in the specification. Click Rename, type the name and press Enter (Esc cancels).
  • ID — assigned by the app. The codes in the specification (K01, PL01 …) are explained in Panel codes.
Field Meaning
Width the size across the panel face, at right angles to the top edge
Height the size in the direction of the panel’s top edge
Thickness the thin size — it comes from the material, which is why it is greyed out

Width and height belong to the panel itself, not to the X, Y, Z axes. A shelf and a side panel each have their own width and height, however they stand in the object. A rectangular panel also has Corner radius; a round panel has only a Diameter.

Typing into the fields:

  • type a number and leave the field (Tab) — the panel changes at once;
  • + / - changes the value by 1 mm, Shift + + / - by 10 mm;
  • type +50 or -18 — the value grows or shrinks by that much.

Next to each size is a lock: Lock on object resize. The lock doesn’t lock the field — it decides what happens when you change the size of the whole object:

  • an unlocked size adapts to the new object size;
  • a locked size stays the same.

Thickness is locked from the start. More: Resizing the object.

The X, Y, Z position is measured in millimetres from the object anchor (for a panel in a group — from the group anchor). The anchor is shown above the 3D view, e.g. Anchor: Front bottom left.

  • The arrow next to an axis shows the direction it is measured in. Click it to flip — e.g. to measure from the right instead of the left side.
  • + / - moves the panel by 1 mm, Shift by 10 mm; +50 moves it by 50 mm.

For moving with the mouse and pushing against neighbouring panels see Move and fit.

Advanced settings → Resize anchors: how the panel behaves along X, Y and Z when the object gets bigger or smaller. See Resize anchors.

Under Door, turn on Is door for a panel that opens. You then set:

  • Pivot edge and Pivot face — which edge the door swings around;
  • Open direction and Open angle (°) — for the open-door preview;
  • Front — the panel is a visible front (e.g. for Show only fronts).

The pivot edge is also needed for hinge holes — see Joints and hardware.

  • Finish (Ctrl / ⌘ + Enter) takes you back to the panel list. A double-click on empty space, Esc or the back arrow do the same.
  • Delete panel — the bin icon at the bottom left of the form or in the list row.
  • Duplicate — the icon in the panel’s list row.
  • Hide panel in view — the eye icon in the form header.

Everything can be undone with Ctrl / ⌘ + Z.

  1. In the panel list turn on Select multiple panels and tick the panels (or Shift + click in the 3D view).
  2. Bulk actions → Edit selected together.
  3. Where values differ, it says Mixed. Whatever you change is applied to every selected panel; the rest stays as it was.

The Holes, Joints and Cutouts tabs are hidden then — they are edited per panel.
