My materials
A material sets a panel’s look, but also its thickness and its place in the cut list. The Materials page (sidebar) has four tabs:
| Tab | Contents |
|---|---|
| My materials | Your working list — the boards and edge bands you actually work with |
| Custom | Materials you made yourself |
| Remnants | Board remnants; see Remnants |
| Database | Manufacturer catalogs; see Material database |
My materials
Section titled “My materials”The list shows Type, Material, the manufacturer (Mfr) and the board size (Sheet (mm)). Filter by name, SKU, manufacturer… and All types narrow the list.
You add a material to the list with the star (Add to favorites) in the Material database. The star in the list (Remove from favorites) takes it off the list.
These materials come first in the editor’s material picker, under My materials.
Custom material
Section titled “Custom material”If a material isn’t in the database (e.g. a board from a local supplier), make it yourself:
- Materials → New material.
- Identity: name, Description, Manufacturer, Type (e.g. Chipboard, MDF, Plywood, Solid wood, Edge band), Code / SKU.
- Dimensions (mm): Standard sheet size — Width (W), Height (H) and Thickness.
- Finish: which faces it applies to, the colour of faces A and B, Surface.
- Grain pattern: turn on Material has wood grain / directional pattern if the board has a grain, and under Grain direction in swatch image say how the grain runs in the picture.
- Swatch image — required for a decor; otherwise the colour is used.
- Click Create material.
A change to a material applies to all future cut lists, but doesn’t change quotes already saved.
Note for the AI assistant
Section titled “Note for the AI assistant”Note for the AI assistant — e.g. Only for fronts; use the 2 mm edge band in the same decor. Only the AI assistant sees it when it uses this material; it is never printed.
Deleting
Section titled “Deleting”A material that is used in objects is kept in them, but hidden from the library.
Material on a panel
Section titled “Material on a panel”How to give a material to one panel, several panels or the whole object: see Editing a panel and Faces and grain.
